Extremely proud of myself.

That must be the longest game I've ever seen. Congratulations!

:DDD

That's awesome! I started playing 2 days ago, but this is as far as I've gotten. You've given me a goal to look forward to! :D Congrats on getting so far!

Hey -- I am interested in playing the more expanded version with the events and funerals and such! However, the link to join the discord seems to have expired. I know it's mentioned that you guys can't promise a full version anymore: does that mean that the version of the game with events is unplayable?

I've just checked, it's a link that doesn't expire, and just yesterday someone used it. If it helps, here's a new one that will be valid for a week.

I don't understand your second question. Where did you read that?

The version with events is playable via our Discord server.

Oh, I see. That was from before we even released the alpha version with events.
But it still holds - we can't guarantee there ever will be a full version. However, we'll try our best to create one.

This is what happens when I try to click the link! I don't understand what's going on, and it's the same when I try to get on via the link on the page. :( I want to join to play the new version with events!

Actually, I got it! It wouldn't let me join from my computer, but it worked on my phone. Thank you!

That's pretty odd. Even behind a VPN I never have issues with Discord invites (while other platforms throw a hissy fit).

But I'm glad you figured it out!

Oh, also, I had an idea for another component of the game:

What if there was an influence mechanic? So at the beginning of the game, all families have equal power over the realm, the original patriarch and matriarch of the family beginning as minor nobility (or perhaps even peasants). However, as the game progresses, you gain influence via the increasing of three stats: money, political power and popularity. You gain these via two ways: either through gaining more members, thus gaining a higher chance of one of your offspring gaining a higher rank (tying back into the noble rank feature that I previously suggested, or events - randomised occurrences that either benefit you, benefit the rival families, debuff you, or debuff the rival families (EGS: A member of your family becomes an explorer, and either discovers a new continent, or is found out to be a fraud). This is where the long-awaited advantage of the Salestor family emerges, as thanks to their intelligence, they have a higher chance of earning positive events.

Huh, had the exact same issue, and I had tried in Chrome and Firefox on my computer, but phone no problem. Weird!

That's a lot!

how do i play this game

Do you mean instructions? Or getting it to work in your browser?

how get it to work in my browser

If it doesn't work out of the box, you might not be using a browser that is supported by the Unity player. What browser and operating system version are you using?

Fun little game, like a bonsai version of Crusader Kings!

I genuinely got worried for my laptop by the end. Also I had like 3 "dynasties" stemming from a dude named Hugo lol

Wow, that is a huge family!

I love this and love the idea of a fuller version of this game - is that still in the works?

(+1)

So do we! Unfortunately, we can't promise anything at this point.

Is this the same artist who does the art for Kurzesagt?!?

Haha, no. It's not a very difficult style to pull off. Probably why the Kurzgesagt artists used it for their animations.

I really enjoyed this! Looking forward to seeing what you're going to add in the future.

Simple fun when you don't want to think too much.

Some suggestions . . .

  • Allow cousin marriage (they're nobles after all)
  • Add pop up text with personality traits
  • Simple individual life events

Thank you for the feedback! We are looking into more features for a potential full game.

I really enjoyed this! It's a lot of simple fun, and I enjoy making up stories in my head about the various pairs. I agree with a lot of the suggestions in other comments (making young widows eligible again, gay relationships, pop-up events like feuds, etc.). If you work on this game more, I'd love to be able to review my family tree at the end of the era. Thanks for making it!

Thank you for the feedback!

I don't think gay relationships would happen in the era of time this is set in. If the developers do want to add that it would take alot of work which might change the genre of growing your family into a story-teller, if you get what I mean.

A great game, I think that matching by similar ages and discarding the old ones of 50 years old by marrying them with someone of 17 helps to have new fiancees in 5 years, that and having between 3 and 7 children per family.

Brilliant game, I found it really enjoyable
