Save games, babies, wedding, what!?
We've been burning to get this version out for so long...
But new features bring new edge cases, and those bring new bugs. But now it's ready, and dang it's a big one.
If you just want to give it a shot instead of reading all about it, you can join our Discord server, where you find the link to the newest version.
Let's begin!
Saving & Loading
Well, it speaks for itself, but this one was a toughy. If you look at the code close enough, you might find some authentic developer blood in there. Sacrifices have been made, nerves have been wracked, but now we have it.
You get three save slots. As it is right now, it will save and restore your characters and the other houses in their full glory. Events do not get saved right now. We'll tackle that one in the future. Needs more sleepless nights.
Child and baby graphics
This one was long due. And here it is.
Also noteworthy:
- Firstborns now inherit the name of a parent (as you can see above)
- You can now rename your family members
- We've replaced the coronets with nicer ones
- You can have twins now!
Events are now house- and character-bound
Events no longer show up on the event panel automatically. Now every event is displayed on the characters and other houses involved.
The outcomes show there as well. Clicking them will pull them into the event panel or show the story outcome.
Also noteworthy:
- We have a cute new mouse cursor
- We've added a lot of new tooltips; for example, you can now read a summary of the story if you prefer
- You can drag characters onto others to have them join their event
- You can right-click stories to dismiss them
- You can right-click events on houses to hide them
- Stories will expire after a few years if you don't read them
New events
Of course, we've added a few new events. Two, to be exact.
Coronation
When someone dies, their titles no longer automatically jump to their successor. Now you get a proper coronation ceremony, and you can even nominate your own candidate of choice, which means, if you're lucky, you can move titles across branches.
Unfortunately, the other houses have heard of this and will take a stab at your precious titles as well. With a knife, if necessary.
Swindle
You know that one guy who always gets themselves into some weird scheme that they'll lose out on in the end?
Yeah, that could be your baron now. Sorry. Characters with very low wit might get tricked by a swindler. Unless they're lucky or wise up quickly, they might lose their precious title. Oh no!
Wedding
Let's make that up to you with a jolly good time. When a courtship goes well, you now get to celebrate the communion with the other house. You get to choose the guest of honor. Who may or may not ruin everything. What could possibly go wrong?
Also noteworthy:
- We've added a lot of new stories. We've also kicked out some old ones. We have a total of 1200 different story outcomes now!
- Tourney events have upped their stakes: You now can win the title of one of the other participants... or lose your own.
Relationships tab
This update just keeps on giving, doesn't it?
All characters now have a relationships tab that shows you their immediate family and keeps track of previous spouses. You can even click through to them and do some digging into the other houses. We won't tell them.
New rating options
We still really want to know what you think about the stories so we can improve them over time.
You have five options now:
- Junk
- Boring
- Incomprehensible
- Just fine
- Awesome
If it's all the same to you, just click the green button and be on your way. But you can help us if you mark the good/bad ones accordingly.
There's more?
Of course, there's more. But let's keep this short.
- Retweaking - we did a lot of testing and tweaking to make sure it feels right for new players and old players. We hope you like it too. Either way, we'd really like to hear about it, if you have the time.
- Scores - So in the previous versions, title scores were way overproportionate. We took them down quite a notch. So all new scores are generally going to be quite a bit lower.
- Bugfixes - So, so many bugs. Where do they come from? Am I a terrible programmer? What's happening!!?
- Performance - We've done some massive performance improvements, so you can keep growing your tree for longer and we have more room to add cool effects and features later.
- Support for more generations - Yep. There was a limit of 64 generations before your game turns into a steaming pile of bytes. No more!
- Speed - If you like it risky, there's a 4th speed button for you now. The other speeds are a little bit slower now, though.
- Audio - We've started adding a few clicks and blips here and there. You can turn them on and off in the menu, just like the music.
Where is all this good stuff?
As you can tell, the game is still under development. However, you can play the latest version, for free!
Just hop onto our Discord server, maybe say "hi", or not, and find the link to the newest version there. We love to have you on board.

Woah, this is like a cute/childish version of Crusader Kings 3 though focusing on the family aspect.
